Popularly known as ‘The Cradle of Mankind’, Turkana contains one of the most exciting and complete findings of evolution in the world. The discovery of fossils, both flora and fauna that date back to over 27 million years have made the area a very important paleontology site.
Lodwar is the capital and by far the biggest settlement of Turkana County. It is located west of Lake Turkana, the world’s largest permanent desert and alkaline lake. The Turkanas’ are welcoming, kind, peaceful and generous people. They belief in being open minded and straight forward. When you encounter them you quickly notice their appreciation for truth which provides for good relationship building.
…but I want you to meet a real gem!! Peter Leilei and his wife Veronica.
It has been my greatest honor and privilege to meet and know them. They were first introduced to me through photos by a missionary pastor friend of mine in early 2019. I hosted them for lunch later on in the year in my house. I loved the way they were radiant with passion for the ministry to the Turkana people. One thing led to another and as we talk they became our first missionaries among their own tribesmen. They are blessed with two children Sarah and Emmanuel.
In the next edition you will hear their heartbeat that will warm your heart. We are very proud of what God is doing through them in Turkana.
