EVER read a scripture like Isaiah 54:1-3 ‘Making the deserted cities inhabited,’ and decided to pick your wife for a missions adventure? This is what George did by taking his wife Mrs. Tina along. She says it was one of a kind with the roads being generally good between Kitale through Kapenguria into West Pokot; except for the valleys, hills and meanders that make it very dangerous to move fast. The security situation has stabilized over the years but travelers are subjected to normal police check and peace between Pokot and Turkana tribes is always at the heart of the governments’ efforts.
Ms Tina recounts that by the time they arrived, she was “baptized in dust” looking like people from the quarry. All dusty from head to toe, thanks to a serious technical problem with the main door and AC system of the car. Beyond Lokichar it gets dangerous, exhausting, hot, dusty and many diversions through bushes and thorns. It’s a long drive into the desert! George and Tina narrated so much of their experience: people they met, food they ate, amazing things they heard, lives that were transformed and on and on and on.
Let me allow them to tell you some of this mission tales…in the next edition of this post.
